The first student who sees the Dan member should call the commands for this procedure.  Once proper respect has been given the class will resume training.
  • If a student comes to class late they will wait at the Dojang entrance until they are recognized by the instructor. They will then approach the instructor, bow and ask permission to join the class.

  • To return to class, they will have to be acknowledged before entering the Dojang.
  • For questions before or after class, a chain of command should be instituted and followed without exception. If a senior gup is unable to answer the question, a junior Black Belt may be approached.

  • One new form is usually required for each gup level of advancement. Dan levels often require two or even three forms.
  • Patience and acknowledgment of self-accomplishment are as important as physical ability in form practice.
  • When a student learns a new form, he/she is responsible for general knowledge regarding that form.

ABOUT OUR SCHOOL

Tang Soo Do

For over 40 years< Safe Harbor has provided instruction in the Korean art of Tang Soo Do. We cultivate a safe and welcoming environment for all ages.

Tang Soo Do is considered a classical martial art, designed and intended to progressively develop character, integrity, self-discipline and respect for others. Students practice a variety of self-defense techniques, artistic forms, competitive low-contact sparring, and dynamic board breaking. At Safe Harbor Martial Arts, they put the emphasis on the “ART”. While observing many time-honored traditions, they are constantly looking to create new and positive ones by providing an atmosphere of Safety, Tolerance, Humor, and Mutual Respect.

Over a period of time, students can progress in rank in the martial arts through tests before a qualified board of black belt instructors. For students who wish to compete, there are several safe, approved tournaments available throughout the year, as well as the opportunity to perform in demonstrations and to coach others. Safe Harbor also conducts other clinics and enjoyable social events throughout the year.
